PROGRAMME FOR HIKING GROUP:
OVER THE POHORSKI GREBEN ALONG THE PATH OF SLOVENIAN MOUNTAIN TRAIL

Day 1: VELIKA KOPA – ČRNI VRH – RIBNIŠKA KOČA MOUNTAIN HUT – LOVRENŠKA JEZERA LAKES
Meeting the hiking guide at Grmovšek’s mountain hut under the Velika Kopa in the morning hours. One of the Pohorje ski slopes is nearby, which we will pass in the direction of Črni Vrh, the highest Pohorje’s peak with 1.543 metres of sea level. Then there will be time for photos, continuing the hike over the Ribniški Vrh peak up to the Ribniška Koča mountain hut, where we will rest and take some refreshments. If preferred, we can take a walk to the Ribniško Jezero lake (30-minute walk in one direction). We will continue the path towards the Lovrenška Jezera lakes and its remarkable nature. The horizon of plains of rare low firs will appear in front of us; among others summits of Jezerski Vrh, Mislinjski graben, Paški Kozjak, the hills of Savinjske Alpe, Kozjak and the mountains of the neighbouring Austria, where we see plains where, 200 years ago, stood vast forests, which the farmers cut down to acquire options for pastures. This is how the vast alpine pastures were formed, where sharp matgrass, arnica montana, Hungarian gentian, bearded bellflower, and false hellebores now grow. Then we will arrive at one of the Pohorje’s mountain huts in the late afternoon. We will settle in at our rooms, eat dinner, and enjoy the accommodation.
Day 2: KLOPNI VRH – ŠUMIK – AREH – BELLEVUE – MARIBOR
The hike starts after breakfast. We will head out to the Klopni Vrh and continue through the Pohorje primeval forest towards Šumik (to the Veliki Šumik waterfall). What follows then, is the trail to Areh and visit to the St. Areh Church, hallowed to St. Henry. The last steps will take us to Bellevue, where the view to the Drava River and the second largest city in Slovenia will come into view – the city of the oldest vine in the world, Maribor. The descend with the gondola from Bellevue is 328 metres to the sea level, where the lower station of the Pohorje funicular or gondola is located. The programme is concluded by 7 PM.
PRICE: EUR 90.00 with participation of min. 8 persons
Price includes the company of a hiking guide for 2 days, 1 x half-board (dinner and breakfast) at mountain hut, gondola ride, organisation, VAT.
On-spot additional payment: tourist tax.
When making a reservation for the package, you receive all necessary directions (contacts, providers’ opening hours, table of the remaining tourist offer at the Pohorje/19 municipalities destination) to plan the programme activities easier; as well as your RESERVATION NUMBER, which you can use for the services included in the package.
Additional options:
- use of tourist vouchers explicitly for the service of accommodation with breakfast; in this case, the cost for this type of accommodation is EUR 25, while the cost of other activities is EUR 65; this calculation is valid only for groups of min. 8 persons. Payment of costs for accommodation with breakfast is executed directly at the accommodation providers, and the costs for other services from the package at the Pohorje Turizem tourist agency.

IMPORTANT: Suitable hiking equipment, backpack, hiking shoes, hiking poles, and enough drinking water is mandatory. The path is designated as an easy mountain trail, and the walking time is 8 hours a day; basic good physical health is necessary.
**Programme is suitable for families and smaller groups of up to 15 persons (groups with smaller number of participants can be accommodated if necessary).
